Shade Sails

Our shade solutions are customised to your specific requirements. Creating shade and providing protection from the sun’s harmful UV Rays. We specialise in large scale/commercial sails suitable for public spaces/schools etc. With 35 years’ experience and continuously refining our skills, we can help to design the best solution for your needs. We operate using an efficient 4 stage process to ensure the smooth progression from initial consultation to installation.

4 Stage Process

Consult

After initial contact, we arrange to meet on site to discuss your requirements and measure up. Instant on site Sun tracking will be used to determine the ideal position for effective shade placement.

Design

Once we determine your requirements, we will design a solution specific to your needs. A written quote will be provided. 3D modelling is available so a digital image of the finished product can be viewed showing the shade provided throughout the day and different seasons.

Manufacture

Once the design is complete our team will transform the ideas from paper to reality in our workshop. Using specialised techniques combined with the latest technology to create a quality shade sail.

Install

Installation of the finished shade sails will be booked on a date that suits you. We organise all the elements of the installation from Concrete suppliers at the start, to tensioning the sails at completion.

What can we offer you:

  • We custom make all our products so we can manufacture any size to suit your requirements.
  • All shade sails are NZ Manufactured and 100% recyclable.
  • Cutting edge design for ease of removal for cleaning or winter storage.
  • Complete in-house process from concept to installation.
  • Sun tracking technology so we can design for maximum shade and minimum intrusion.
  • Free Standing Shade Sail structures or industry leading fixing options to attach sails to existing buildings.
  • 3D Modelling available showing shade throughout the day and through different seasons.

Shade Shapes

Coplanar Sails – Generally these are triangular shaped sails where all anchor points lie on the same plane, in a 3-dimensional space. The sails can be angled but it will still be on one plane. These can be used for small projects, but we don’t recommend them for larger sails as they tend to loft (flap) more in high winds and can flex up and down, causing instability and more pressure on the tension points. They also tend to be positioned higher to get good outdoor flow, but this creates less shade making them less efficient.

Hyperbolic Sails – In order to create stability, the sail poles and fixing points are set at alternate heights resulting in the mesh being pulled across different planes. Typically, you have 4 or more points with alternating heights. This creates a hyperbolic shape that is strong and stable. This is important in larger sails, and more aesthetically pleasing.
