When Downer NZ were working on the Turitea onshore windfarm near Palmerston North they needed bespoke covers for the turbine tower foundations – covers that would protect the setting concrete and keep the project moving forwards as quickly as possible.
Back then we’d never made custom-shaped blankets on quite that (huge) scale. But we do love a challenge . . .
Tarpaulin Makers produce New Zealand’s only R-value thermal concrete curing blankets.
The blankets feature a triple layered construction – two sheets of PVC or polyethylene, with a thermal insulation layer sandwiched between them. Using these blankets creates an ambient air temperature, preventing thermal cracking by ensuring an even cure.
And the fact that weather-related pour delays are significantly reduced, and the covers are reusable, can only be good for your project deliverables and $costs.
Since the Downer/Turitea job we’ve put those design and manufacture learnings to good use when coming up with solutions for other customers.
So, if you need a cost-effective smart, simple solution on your next project please get in touch. If it’s made from flexible PVC or canvas fabric, we can help.
